Decorative Ceramic Garden Pots

We celebrated spring and had fun creating artful and decorative clay works for the outdoors. We looked at different styles and expressions of garden pots to expand and inspire our thought. Each student created their own sculptural works inspired by imagination and play. With soft clay, several tools and project ideas, students learned fundamental building techniques of coil, slab, pinching, hand molding, and joining (with emphasis on structure) to create self-expressed sculptural forms.

Students gained knowledge and understanding of the ceramic process and developed technical and application skills through simple conceptual drawing, visual communication and hands-on fabrication.
